Our favorite Chinese food restaurant in San Antonio. They have a variety of authentic Sichuan dishes as well as your typical Americanized Chinese food dishes.
We come often and bring friends. Everyone we bring always loves it.
Our favorite dishes are their dan dan mian, Cheung du dumplings, Singapore rice noodles, pork belly and curry chicken. Their bubble tea is also very good.
Staff is always so friendly, helpful and attentive. -

And now, another strip mall chic edition yelp review. Outside doesn't look like much. Paper specials on the windows. Said windows also sporting what looks like a 45 year old botched tint job.
Once you walk in, they space is not crammed with tables. A few examples of Maneki Neko nicely positioned behind the counter. Menus seemed relatively new; specials written in Chinese on the chalk board.
Speaking of, several large families dining when I visited. Elaborate dishes leaving the kitchen on serving carts. Perhaps there was something I couldn't read for a family style option?
My party was in need of a quick dinner. My girlfriend was babysitting near the convention center; I drove back more central based on SG's yelp reviews. Excellent egg drop soup started my dinner. It was so good I actually ordered another cup.
OK, so they never brought that cup. Think there was a bit of a language barrier. Chengdu dumplings mostly made up for the absent egg drop. The boys split an adult chicken fried rice. AND, we all had leftovers. Dinner for 3 for $20; I'd call that worthy of a 4 star nod. -

This place is a great authentic little restaurant in San Antonio for Asian food! My friend and I came at 8pm but it wasn't too crowded, so service was fast and attentive. The menu is pretty wide ranging and they have lunch specials (about $8 dishes), but for the dinner menu, it's mostly family style dishes or personal soup bowl/noodle dishes, as pictured below. For the price, the portion size is definitely worth it because we were not expecting so much food! They also give out free radish/carrot slices as a small appetizer, which I thought was a nice touch. Overall, the food was authentic and tasty - not caked in oily sauce, which is a big pet peeve of mine, yet still enough to bring out rich flavor. The noodles were good was well and the beef was quite tender. Overall, this is a great place to come after work for dinner with friends and enjoy some authentic food & friendly service.
PROS:
- for family style, definitely affordable and sizable portions for the price
- free small carrot/radish appetizer and steamed rice with the family dishes
- quick and prompt service, low wait time for the food (granted we came when it wasn't too busy)
- authentic tasting Asian food without too heavy sauce or salt
CONS:
- noodle dish didn't come with a soup spoon, had to ask for one..but that's a small thing -

Hadn't given this a try in a very long time. Ordered the spicy crispy chicken. And it's pretty much ALL SPICES. Barely any chicken. I'm extremely disappointed. It's all dried chili peppers. I'll stick with my go to, China Inn from now on.

I went around 1:30 in the afternoon so it was pretty empty. I played it safe and got the Kung Pao chicken. The egg drop soup was good and I was looking forward to my meal. As you can see from the picture- way too much sauce and the chicken was breaded and fried and very sweet. At one point I did ask to make sure I got the right dish as it seemed more like a general Taos. It was tasty, but I could feel the sugar at every bite. The meal came with a baby spring roll(I liked it) and a crab Rangoon, once again sweet. Stock in the sugar industry would be right on! However, I may have ordered something very Americanized. I would like to come back and try the 'real' Chinese dishes.
On the plus side, good prices, $10.22 with iced tea and $2.00 tip!
